Our Curriculum Ethos

Our  nurseries provide a warm and nurturing environment that aims to foster wonder, excitement, and learning opportunities for children. Each child is valued and respected in our welcoming setting. Our play spaces are thoughtfully designed to encourage children to explore, engage in free play, and learn independently. Our team will enhance the environment with planned activities to enrich the children's learning experiences. We prefer natural and reclaimed materials over traditional toys to spark exploration, creativity, and curiosity.

Branches, pinecones, leaves, and other natural items will be used indoors and outdoors as versatile play materials. We also offer Little Movers classes to help keep them active. Our team in Morpeth emphasise the importance of good manners and respect, preparing our children for life beyond the nursery. Our goal is to provide a solid foundation through quality Early Years education, ensuring children reach their full potential both during their time with us and in the future.

OUR PEDAGOGY

Pedagogy is the understanding of how children learn and develop and the practice though which adults can enhance that process, rooted in values and beliefs about what we want for our children and supported by knowledge theory and experience. Children are powerful learners. Every child can make progress in their learning, with the right help. At our  nurseries  we will offer a mix of different pedagogy approaches, children learn through play, adults modelling and scaffolding their learning through child-led and adult-led activities.

Our practitioners will create environments that encourage high-quality play. They will provide time and space for children to create their own play scenarios. At times, they will participate to gently enhance and expand the children's learning. In addition to play, our children will follow a flexible routine that includes group work and activities led by adults. Every aspect of their day will be customised to meet the children's wellbeing needs, ensuring they feel safe, secure, and eager to learn. Our preschool children will receive more structured learning to aid their transition into reception class, alongside meals from NHS Start For Life recipes.

CHILD-CENTRED TEACHING & LEARNING

Teaching in the early years should not be taken to imply a “top down” or formal way of working. It is a broad term that covers the many different ways in which adults help young children learn. It includes their interactions with children during planned and child-initiated play and activities: communicating and modelling language, showing, explaining, demonstrating, exploring ideas, encouraging, questioning, recalling, providing a narrative for what they are doing, facilitating and setting challenges.

It takes account of the equipment adults provide and the attention given to the physical environment, as well as the structure and routines of the day that establish expectations. Integral to teaching is how practitioners assess what children know, understand and can do, as well as taking account of their interests and dispositions to learn (characteristics of effective learning), and how practitioners use this information to plan children’s next steps in learning and monitor their progress.

Our large, open beamed barn is a buzz of activity for our toddlers.  It provides areas designed to support all aspects of your childs development.  Here our children are encouraged and supported to gain confidence and grow their physical, emotional and social skills.  They will learn through a whirlwind of indoor and outdoor play which is carefully designed to inspire their imagination.  With protective clothing provided - there is not a care in the world - the messier and muddier the better!!

pre-school

At around the age of 3, our children graduate to our pre-school.  Without loosing any of the caring ethos of the nursery, we begin to shift the emphasis to nurturing independence.  Whilst promoting school readiness, we are extremely privileged that we can do this in a 'home from home' environment which still provides all of the benefits of rural nursery.  The children enjoy many extra curricular activities and have so much fun on the farm and beyond.

outdoors

We have acres of beautiful and unique outdoor provision.  Our curriculum embraces nature with our children enjoying much time in the fresh air.  With access to the farm to complement our fully resourced outdoor play area and our separate magical forest garden - we are spoiled for choice.

"Can't thank the staff enough they really looked out and helped my daughter age 2/3 who had quite a bit of separation anxiety. Amazing ladies, lovely nursery, the best in my eyes, with the farm for the kids to explore and proper homemade meals to eat. Gutted she's moving on to main stream nursery."
